Produce pristine cross-section samples. The Cross-section station allows precise positioning of the area of interest and is adjustable in the X and Y directions, as well as rotationally. Samples are secured with adhesive in the mask for cross-section milling in the Model 1061 SEM Mill.
Produce pristine cross-section samples; the Cross-section station allows precise positioning of the area of interest. It can be used with a wide variety of materials, including semiconductor devices, multilayers, ceramics, and hard/brittle materials. High-quality cross-section samples can be produced quickly and easily by fixing a mask to a sample in the user-friendly loading station.
This sample preparation method employs an adhesive to secure the sample to a mask and preserves the quality of the inner layers and allows imaging and analysis of the material in its native state. Fischione Instruments recommends the following adhesives: carbon tape, copper tape, colloidal silver solution, or colloidal graphite solution.
The station accommodates a wide range of sample sizes; the alignment of the mask and the sample is done both laterally and angularly. The prepared region of interest is flat and free from damage and ready for ion milling.
The Cross-section station assembly includes:
If you prefer to secure samples to masks without adhesives, consider the Clamping cross-section station (part number 041-6338).
